We are pleased to have the opportunity to loan you the Braille Awareness Kit developed by the Perkins Braille & Talking Book Library. The material written for the kit and the items included from a variety of sources will give you a good understanding of the braille system and how braille makes a difference in the lives of people who are blind.
The Braille Awareness Kit is generally loaned to teachers to support curriculum units on disability awareness, students doing class projects on blindness and braille, community organizations such as scout troops, church youth groups, public libraries, service organizations such as Lions' clubs, and other educational organizations working with children and adults.
The resource packet on braille provided includes facts on braille, a biography of Louis Braille, a braille bibliography, internet resources on braille, braille alphabet cards, and A-to-Z Braille Posters. These are yours to keep - please feel free to make additional copies for distribution to students.
We hope you will enjoy learning about braille and exploring the kit!
If you have questions or would like more detailed information about the Braille Awareness Kit, please call Judi Cannon at the Library at 1-800-852-3133 or 617-972-7646 or email Judi.Cannon@Perkins.org. Click for more information about our Braille Services.
