The staff at Perkins School for the Blind has never shied away from great challenges. In 1837, Samuel Gridley Howe set out to do what was then considered impossible: educating a deafblind girl named Laura Bridgman. He succeeded.
His level of commitment remains today in all that we do. In an environment rich in history, it is important not to rest on past accomplishments. Perkins has never done so. Constant innovation, eternal belief in the power of change and the importance of empowering people are paramount in our efforts on campus, in the community and around the world.
Perkins School for the Blind is made up of a team of educators and innovators, loyal supporters and visionaries who believe that anything is possible. The face of Perkins includes parents, alumni, generous donors, volunteers, teachers and staff members who believe in Perkins’ mission. And most importantly, the students who teach us everyday what amazing things are possible.
